Manuel A. Segarra, III, is a family law attorney in Coral Gables, Florida. The founder of Segarra & Associates, P.A., Mr. Segarra works on cases involving all types of family law matters and serves as a mediator and guardian ad litem. He represents clients throughout the Miami metropolitan area.Mr. Segarra has 20 years of legal experience. Prior to founding Segarra & Associates, P.A., he spent several years as a prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, serving as chief of litigation and division chief of the domestic crimes unit. In that role, he prosecuted cases involving homicide, arson, battery, capital sexual battery, child abuse, attempted homicide, kidnapping, manslaughter, stalking, human trafficking and other issues.Over the course of his time in family law practice, Mr. Segarra has litigated complex family law matters in Florida state courts and before the Florida Third Circuit Court of Appeals . His experience as a prosecutor allows him to provide effective and committed representation to his family law clients both inside the courtroom and in out-of-court negotiations.Outside of his practice, Mr. Segarra enjoys contributing to his community. He is a former member of the Cuban American Bar Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida, the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association and the League of Prosecutors Florida. He is a prior board member of nonprofit organizations such as Florida Wildlife Kids and Grove for Ghana.Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Segarra earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and psychology, with a minor in Spanish literature from Loyola University Chicago. He received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. He is a certified family law mediator by the Florida Board of Legal Specialization & Education.
