Kristal Holmes is an attorney with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, and represents clients in Johns Creek, Georgia, in legal issues related to family law, mediation and criminal defense. Her experience extends to issues of equitable division, divorce, child custody, legitimation, family violence, contempt, child support, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. In the Atlanta metropolitan area, she works for clients in Cobb, Hall, Barrow, Gwinnett, Clayton, Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale and Cherokee counties.An active public speaker, Ms. Holmes has spoken on divorce and finances for a local television and radio show. Ms. Holmes graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. At Emory University, she then earned her Juris Doctor and was able to extend her experience into environmental law and comparative international health law as she studied abroad in Sydney, Australia.Ms. Holmes is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Gwinnett County Bar Association and a past president of the advisory board for the Gwinnett County Minority Bar Association. A former prosecuting attorney, she has experience on both sides of the courtroom and deep practical knowledge of how the courts work.
