Joy Miyasaki practices in the areas of tax, estate, and business planning; trust and estate administration; non-profit organizations and charitable planning; and tax controversy matters. She was a trial attorney with IRS Office of Chief Counsel in New Jersey and a partner with Bergman, Horowitz & Reynolds, a private client law firm in Connecticut and New York (now Withers Bergman). She is an Adjunct Faculty Member, University of Hawaii Richardson School of Law; Fellow, American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; Editorial Board Member, The Practical Lawyer, published by American Law Institute-American Bar Association (ALI-ABA); Member, Disciplinary Board of the Hawaii Supreme Court; past Chair, Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA) Tax Section; past Chair, HSBA Probate and Estate Planning Section; past President, Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation; and past President, Hawaii Women Lawyers.
