• Sylvia Goldschmidt is a founding member of Goldschmidt & Genovese LLP, a boutique marriage and family law firm based in White Plains, New York, with an office in New York City. Focusing on matrimonial and family law, she can use her extensive experience in traditional representation, collaboration law, and mediation to assist clients in Westchester, New York, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Orange Counties with complex and difficult issues that divorce or breakdown of interpersonal relationships such as property division, child and spouse support, custody disputes, including those with an international component, are common. In her practice, Ms. Goldschmidt always tries to treat her clients with compassion while vigilantly protecting their rights. 1981 Mrs. Goldschmidt received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. A year later she received an LL.M. in Taxes from New York University School of Law. She was admitted in New York in 1983. Goldschmidt, as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), after serving as President of the organization's New York Chapter, remains up to date on the latest developments in family and marriage law. She is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) and Pas President of the United States Chapter. Member of the Executive Committees of the Family Law Sections of NYS Bar Assoc. and Westchester County Bar Assoc . ; and board member of AFCC-New York. Ms. Goldschmidt sat on the advisory committee for honoring the IAALS family initiative. She previously co-chaired the marriage committee of the Westchester Women's Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of New York State. Sharing her knowledge and experience with other lawyers through writing and teaching is another important part of Ms. Goldschmidt's professional life. She has lectured and written articles for the NYS Bar Association, AFCC, AAML, the IAFL Westchester County Bar Association, and the Pace University School of Law, among others.
