- Focusing his practice primarily on criminal defense matters, Andrew W. Piltser Cowan is an attorney at PiltserCowan Law LLC. From the firm's office in Boston, Massachusetts, he provides representation to clients throughout the greater Boston region, including all courts inside 495. Mr. Piltser-Cowan has been admitted to practice in Massachusetts since 2008.Mr. Cowan's client base largely consists of people who have been charged with having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses, whether in state or federal court. The types of cases that he has handled throughout his distinguished career have included operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, arson, robbery, kidnapping, drug possession and trafficking, homicide, white collar crime, and internet crimes. Mr. Cowan has been able to obtain positive results for his clients through dismissals, acquittals, and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution.A native of Iowa, Mr. Piltser-Cowan attended The University of Iowa as an undergraduate, where he majored in physics and astronomy and received a Bachelor of Science in 2005. He then went on to pursue his legal education at Cornell Law School. While he was there, Mr. Piltser-Cowan was on the editorial board of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy, and he served several clerkships, including one with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, before being awarded his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2008. After he graduated, Attorney Piltser-Cowan spent several years with the Dedham, Massachusetts, office of the CPCS Public Defender Division before starting his own firm in August 2013. In the spring of 2017, finding it difficult to manage the high demand for his services alone, Attorney Piltser Cowan hired several associate lawyers to found what would eventually become PiltserCowan Law LLC.
