- The founder of RJT Criminal Defense, Ryan Tegnelia focuses his practice exclusively on that area of the law. Located in San Diego, California, he provides representation to people throughout the area who have been charged by the government with having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. Fluent in Spanish and English, Mr. Tegnelia is admitted to practice before all California state courts as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.The types of cases that Mr. Tegnelia has handled on behalf of his clients have included driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, weapons violations, rape and other sex offenses, assault and battery, kidnapping, robbery, homicide, domestic violence, internet crimes such as stalking and identity theft, and credit card fraud and other white collar crimes. He has been able to obtain positive results in many instances, including bench and jury acquittals as well as through the negotiation of favorable plea bargains with the prosecution. Mr. Tegnelia's successful track record in this regard as well as his ethical approach to his practice has earned him a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.Mr. Tegnelia attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate education, where he majored in political science and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002. He then went on to pursue his legal studies at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, and he was a clerk with the San Diego County Public Defender Office before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2005. After graduation, Mr. Tegnelia was a prosecutor with the office of the district attorney, County of Tulare, before entering private practice in January 2008.
