A founder of Girardi | Keese and a highly-regarded civil trial lawyer, Robert M. Keese divides his practice among bad faith and other insurance coverage issues, toxic torts, professional negligence, intellectual property litigation and road design defects. From the firm's office in Los Angeles, California, he represents business and individual clients throughout the state. Admitted to practice before all California state courts since 1970, Mr. Keese is also admitted to practice before several federal trial and appellate courts.Mr. Keese has been able to obtain hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation for his clients during his distinguished career as an attorney. He has served as first-chair counsel in more than 100 state and federal trials, and his experience has encompassed arbitrations and mediations as well. In one notable insurance coverage case, Mr. Keese negotiated a $200 million settlement on behalf of policyholders whose properties were damaged as a result of the 1994 Northridge earthquake and whose claims were delayed or disputed by Farmers Insurance Group. In one of his courtroom victories, his client received a $25.75 million jury award in a case involving fraud and the misappropriation of trade secrets. Keese is a member of several legal organizations, including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He obtained his legal education at Loyola Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1969.
