- The founder of Cannon & Associates, John P. Cannon divides his practice among criminal defense, family law matters and military law. Located in Oklahoma City, he represents clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Admitted to practice before all Oklahoma state courts, Mr. Cannon is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Cannon assists people who have been charged by the state or federal governments with having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of cases that he has had experience in handling have included drug possession and trafficking, larceny, forgery, fraud, money laundering and other white collar crimes, sex offenses, robbery, and homicide. Mr. Cannon has also helped military members who are facing general, special and summary court-martial proceedings, and he has represented them in post-trial clemency matters.Mr. Cannon also represents both civilians and members of the military in family law matters. In addition to divorce, his experience in this regard has encompassed the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements, assisting people whose marriages have already been dissolved to seek modifications to or the enforcement of existing support and parenting orders, and helping domestic violence victims obtain protective orders. Mr. Cannon's successful track record in all these endeavors has earned him a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.After obtaining his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma University School of Law in 2010, Mr. Cannon was an assistant district attorney in Garfield County, an assistant public defender in Oklahoma County, and an assistant attorney general with the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office before entering private practice. He is also a judge advocate with the Oklahoma National Guard.
