- A former first assistant prosecutor with the Office of the Monmouth County Prosecutor, Alton D. Kenney is a member of the criminal defense team at Starkey Kelly Kenneally Cunningham & Turnbach. He has served as lead trial and appellate counsel in thousands of high-profile cases in the area of white collar crime in state and federal courts throughout New Jersey, including Ocean and Monmouth counties. Along with his criminal defense practice, Mr. Kenney has been an instructor at Monmouth University.Admitted to practice in New Jersey, Mr. Kenney is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Monmouth Bar Association, for which he previously served as the chair of its Criminal Practice Committee.Mr. Kenney has lectured for the New Jersey and Monmouth counties police academies and for the state's Office of the Attorney General's Division of Criminal Justice. He has delivered presentations to the National District Attorneys Association, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the County Prosecutors Association of New Jersey.Mr. Kenney graduated with a bachelor's degree from Wilkes University in 1971. He then attended Seton Hall University School of Law, from which he earned a Juris Doctor in 1975.
