Dividing his practice between family law and criminal defense matters, Michael C. McIntosh is an attorney at Schaffer, McIntosh & Effertz P.C. From the firm's offices in Independence, Missouri, he provides representation to clients throughout the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Mr. McIntosh has been admitted to practice before all Missouri state courts since 1979.In his family law practice, Mr. McIntosh provides advice and counsel to people whose marriages are ending and are accordingly having to deal with property division, child custody and visitation, and spousal and child support. He often helps them come to an accord on these matters by playing a role in negotiations, but he is a forceful courtroom advocate on their behalf when litigation proves to be necessary. Mr. McIntosh also assists clients whose marriages have already been dissolved and who are now seeking to have existing parenting and support court orders modified or enforced.Mr. McIntosh represents other clients who have been accused by the state with the commission of misdemeanor or felony offenses. A significant portion of his cases in this regard have involved driving under the influence of alcohol, but he has broad experience in defending against other charges as well. Mr. McIntosh has been able to obtain positive results through dismissals, acquittals and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution.
