In matters of family law and elder law, Cynthia Cartier represents clients as a Managing Partner with The Law Offices of Cartier & Bower, LLC. She received her BA from Upsala College, JD from Widener Law School and LLM from UCONN Law School where she was the recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Insurance Finance. As a trained mediator and collaborative attorney, her family law focus includes dissolution of marriage actions and post-decree proceedings where the parties chose a less adversarial route and engage fully in the process working towards a settlement that meets the needs of all parties. She is often appointed by the Court to serve as Guardian Ad Litem for minors in custody matters. In cases of elder law, she devotes her practice to guardianships, estate planning, asset protection, advance directives, supplemental needs trusts, and Medicaid planning, representing a wide range of clients throughout the Connecticut. She represents clients and their families in guardianship proceedings, and is frequently appointed by the Courts as Counsel to the Alleged Incapacitated Person. She also serves as a Conservator by Court appointment or on personal nomination.
