For over 24 years, Kathleen L. Cole has represented clients in Wayne County, Oakland County, Livingston County, Washtenaw County, and the surrounding areas in a wide range of family law matters. As the founder of Cole Family Law and a certified domestic relations mediator, Ms. Cole uses a combination of methods to help clients find a solution that minimizes the need for litigation. However, if the other party is unwilling to cooperate, Ms. Cole will not hesitate to use her trial skills to defend her client's rights in a court of law.To stay informed of the latest developments and best serve her clients, Ms. Cole is a member of several organizations, including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections. She is a Past-President of the Livonia Bar Association and is a Fellow of the American Bar Association. She has served as a moot court judge for the Michigan State University College of Law and is a member of The Institute of Continuing Legal Education, which offers assistance and resources to attorneys throughout Michigan.Ms. Cole handles a range of issues that affect families such as adoption, spousal support, child custody, child support, parenting time and divorce. She knows that family law matters are often filled with heightened emotions and helps clients stay focused on the bigger picture. Ms. Cole explains how state laws will apply to her clients' situations and puts together a plan that keeps their goals as the center focus. Ms. Cole also serves as a Mediator for family law and other legal matters.Before choosing to study law, Ms. Cole attended the James Madison College at Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She then attended the Michigan State University College of Law and graduated in 1995, with a Juris Doctor.
