Howlett Law, Inc. founder Jane F. Howlett has a primary focus in her practice on family law matters. She also has experience in estate planning and administration, personal injury litigation, and disputes between landlords and tenants. Based in the firm's offices in Bristol, Rhode Island, she represents clients across the state. Ms. Howlett is a member of the Rhode Island State Bar. She is also licensed to practice in the Massachusetts Bar and in the US District Court for the Rhode Island District. In her family law practice, Ms. Howlett assists people whose marriages lead to marriage and who are therefore faced with divorce issues such as property sharing, child custody and visiting children, and spouse and child benefits. She served for many years as the Chief Justice of the Bristol Municipal Court and has therefore directed numerous legal proceedings. In addition to her divorce practice, Ms. Howlett has helped clients whose marriages have already dissolved and who are now seeking to enforce or change existing support and education mandates. She also has extensive experience in youth affairs under the jurisdiction of the Department of Children, Youth and Families of Rhode Island and in juvenile criminal matters. Ms. Howlett has extensive experience in probate matters, including estates and guardianship. After graduating as an Associate from Roger Williams College, Ms. Howlett enrolled at Providence College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences in 1983. She then continued her legal education at what was then known as the University of Bridgeport Law School and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 1986. As a member of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation, she served on several committees of the Rhode Island Family Court.
